Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou China seeks an innovative and exemplary higher education leader as its next Assistant or Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs (AVCAA). Kean is the only public university in the United States to have a full-scale campus in China. The university seeks a highly collaborative and culturally agile leader who can successfully navigate both U.S. and Chinese higher education environments and contribute to the continued evolution of a distinctive international university model. Candidates may bring strengths in academic administration, faculty affairs, teaching and learning, research administration, or a combination of these areas. The final portfolio of responsibilities and oversight may be shaped to leverage the successful candidate's expertise.
Candidates must possess a terminal degree from an accredited institution. They will also hold a significant record of academic leadership experience in higher education, such as service as a provost, vice provost, assistant/associate provost, dean, associate dean, AVP/VP, or comparable leadership role.
Demonstrated success managing complex academic organizations, programs, or initiatives is required as is experience developing academic policies, procedures, and administrative systems. Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment are required. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a Chinese work visa and resident permit.
The AVCAA is an employee of Kean University in New Jersey and salary will be paid in US dollars. This position is located at the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China. This position requires a flexible schedule and travel will be required to Kean USA NJ campuses or other locations on an as needed basis.
Salary range for the rank of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is expected to be between $150,000 and $175,00. Salary range for the rank of Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is expected to be between $175,000 and $200,000. Full compensation package includes housing allowance, travel allowance, and a generous benefits package.
