The System Director of Breast Surgery is responsible for the clinical and administrative leadership of Breast Surgery practices for Northeast Georgia Health System. The Director will work in collaboration with the Chief Physician Executive (CPE), President/CAO, Vice President, and Administrative Director(s) to coordinate clinical services for breast surgery, including the breast program. Working with administrative leadership and clinician leaders, the Director will establish yearly performance goals for the program that are aligned with the vision and mission of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). In partnership with NGHS directors, the Director will be accountable for all efforts to ensure the consistent delivery of high quality efficient and cost-effective patient care for the breast program and will also be responsible for promoting best practices through evidence-based medicine. The Director will ensure that the surgical practices meet established goals, including but not limited to breast program specific accreditation standards, patient safety, access, revenue cycle, patient satisfaction, and other clinical performance goals. 

Reporting Structure and Responsibilities
  • Reports to the CPE and CAO.  

  • Responsible for physicians and advanced practitioners within the practices as it pertains to breast surgery.   

  • Actively participates in the Leadership Council and other NGPG committees as assigned.  

  • Employed by Northeast Georgia Physicians Group; Active or eligible for privileges with NGHS. 

Qualifications
  • MD or DO with general or surgical specialty training   

  • Active, unrestricted GA license to practice medicine or ability to obtain unrestricted GA license to practice medicine. 

  • Active, unrestricted DEA license  

  • Breast Surgery Fellowship training preferred  

  • Minimum of five years practice experience preferred  

  • Medical staff leadership experience preferred  

  • Training in clinical quality improvement preferred  

  • Active participation in national organization in breast specialty preferred  

  • Clinical expertise in breast cancer, including the latest treatments  

  • Participant experience with the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and/or the American College of Surgeons Accreditation preferred  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in service line/specialty     

  • Previous experience in clinical leadership preferred  

  • Experience in strategic program development  

  • Previous experience with creating capital and operating budgets  

  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately coach, counsel, and develop clinician team members  

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively  

  • Current understanding of industry-standard Revenue Cycle practices  

  • Preferred previous experience with peer review policies and processes
