About Covenant House Georgia
At Covenant House Georgia (CHGA), young people ages 16–24 find more than a place to stay—they find safety, belonging, and hope. For 25 years, CHGA has stood as a sanctuary for youth in crisis, offering unconditional love, absolute respect, and relentless support on their path forward.
Since opening its doors in 2000, CHGA has welcomed more than 20,000 young people into its programs and has served thousands more through street outreach and community partnerships. What began as a small drop-in center has evolved into a comprehensive continuum of care designed to meet young people wherever they are in their journey toward stability and independence.
CHGA is an affiliate of the Covenant House International (CHI) federation, the largest primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking. Since its founding in 1972, CHI has supported more than 1.5 million youth.
Looking Forward: Impactful Past, Bold Future
Following 25 years of impact in the Atlanta region, Covenant House Georgia is positioned well, both financially and with a talented team, to address a rapidly evolving environment shaped by increasing youth homelessness, growing service demand, and organizational expansion.
Atlanta faces significant challenges related to housing affordability, income inequality, and youth vulnerability, contributing to a persistent need for CHGA’s services. At the same time, Atlanta offers robust philanthropic, corporate, and civic engagement opportunities that the next CEO can leverage for future fundraising and strategic partnerships.
CHGA holds a distinctive position as one of the few organizations in the region focused specifically on youth and young adults with a full continuum of housing and supportive services.
CHGA enters this leadership transition with a strong and experienced executive team in place. The Chief Program Officer, recently promoted after fourteen years of service to the organization, brings deep institutional knowledge and programmatic leadership at a pivotal time. The Chief Development Officer has nearly a decade of fundraising experience within the Covenant House network, and continues to expand external engagement, while the Chief Financial Officer, who joined last winter, adds disciplined financial oversight and operational rigor.
Together, this knowledgeable leadership team, in partnership with an engaged and supportive Board of Directors, is committed to ensuring continuity, stability, and sustained progress during this transition. The Interim CEO is actively supporting the organization, maintaining day-to-day alignment, and will partner closely with the incoming CEO to ensure a smooth and thoughtful onboarding process — helping them get settled quickly, build key relationships, and gain the context needed to lead with confidence from the outset.
The incoming CEO will be responsible for advancing CHGA’s vision—evolving its approaches to support and partnerships to strengthen outcomes and steward the organization through its next stage of growth.
At the milestone of 25 years, CHGA remains steadfast in its mission: to end youth homelessness and ensure that every young person has a safe place to sleep and a path toward a brighter future. For a leader inherently motivated by service, pursuit of justice, and systemic change, this role offers a transformative opportunity to guide a highly trusted organization into its next chapter, strengthening its support for young people across Atlanta.
The Opportunity
Covenant House Georgia is seeking a dynamic and visionary strategist to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is an exceptional opportunity for an adaptive leader who thrives in complexity and change to guide an organization with strong momentum. The CEO will chart a path to amplify CHGA’s impact, ensuring excellence and innovation are core to all operations and efforts.
This role calls for the next CEO of CHGA to build trust and transparency with a strong emphasis on organizational culture, team collaboration, and accountability. The CEO should demonstrate a hands-on leadership style, actively support staff, and foster an environment where team members feel heard, valued, and empowered. An early priority will be to listen — spending meaningful time in community with staff, young people, Board members, and partners to deeply understand CHGA’s history, values, and commitment to unconditional love, absolute respect, and relentless support.
Furthermore, fundraising is central to the role and requires a leader with courage, presence and energy, someone who draws people in and builds lasting relationships with major donors and funders. The CEO will prioritize both fundraising and the effective management of administrative and operational functions, ensuring the organization is well-resourced and positioned for long-term success. A key to success in the role will be establishing clear expectations and maintaining a visible and approachable presence with staff and young people alike. Above all, the CEO will intentionally create opportunities for strengthening relationships at all levels within the organization and reinforce a mission-centered and trauma-informed environment.
The strongest candidates will offer:
- At least 10-15 years of proven senior executive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising with a diverse group of donors and stakeholders, including communities served.
- Ideally possesses a strong network of connections with leading foundations, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals in the Atlanta region.
- Agility and responsiveness, with strong situational awareness and the confidence to lead decisively through both opportunity and challenge.
- A bachelor’s degree, advanced degree strongly preferred.
Compensation, Benefits and Work Environment
The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000 with a generous benefits package. The final salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Atlanta region. Relocation assistance will be provided for those moving from outside the state of Georgia. This is a full-time position based in a hybrid work environment, with an expectation of regular on-site presence that supports both CHGA’s operational needs and work–life balance.
The role also requires the ability to travel as needed, along with occasional evening and weekend commitments for events, fund development and organizational priorities.
