Howard University Hospital is seeking an Associate Vice President for Facilities Engineering. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., Howard University Hospital is situated on the campus of Howard University, a historically Black university that has a long tradition of academic excellence and community engagement.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the AVP, Facilities Engineering functions as the most senior leader in facilities. The AVP will provide leadership and oversight of the operation and maintenance of HUH facilities. In support of key growth strategies, the AVP will invest in enhancing infrastructure capabilities while driving key sustainability initiatives for the system.
This is an exciting time to join as a new Howard University Hospital building is scheduled to open in 2028. The new hospital will feature a Level I trauma center, an academic teaching hospital, a 225-bed facility in about 600,000 square feet.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably mechanical or electrical engineering, facilities management, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years’ progressive experience in strategic real estate and facilities management within a large, complex health system, university or other appropriate enterprise.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating and leading real estate and facilities functions within a complex, multi-site enterprise.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $230,000 with a generous benefits package.
