Classroom instruction is supplemented by the Health Professions Advising Center (HPAC), which offers tailored and targeted advisement to those who plan to become physicians, physicians’ assistants, physical or occupational therapists, and other health professionals. A nationally recognized institution across myriad health science fields, the School of Health Sciences earns frequent accreditation accolades and awards and is noted for its excellence inside and outside of the classroom, on and off campus. SHS facilities include a Dental Center and the newly renovated One Care Lane, a 30,000 sq. ft. facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and learning spaces for clinical programs.

The Role of Dean, School of Health Sciences 

The Dean will have the opportunity to build upon the School of Health Science’s strong foundation, providing creative and visionary leadership to enhance and elevate its programs and further its mission to educate students for challenging and meaningful health careers. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will leverage existing strengths while shaping a forward-looking vision and developing a corresponding plan to ensure SHS continues to be a national leader in health sciences education. 

The Dean manages and stewards an operating budget of approximately $9.3M and leads 35 full-time and 75 part-time faculty members.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate and be eligible for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the School of Health Sciences. The University seeks candidates who can inspire faculty and staff to work together to build outstanding academic programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills with the ability to effectively partner with a broad range of constituents internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a persuasive communicator with strong and highly effective interpersonal skills and a deep record of teaching and scholarly research. The next Dean must possess prior experience in the administration of both clinical and non-clinical programs.
