Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement
Wittenberg University
Wittenberg University is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael McGreevey as its new vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement following a successful national search. McGreevey, who previously served as vice president for institutional advancement at Otterbein University for nine years before taking on his current role as special assistant to the president for principal gifts and campaigns at the institution, will join the Wittenberg community on July 1, 2025.
“Mike comes to Wittenberg with significant experience championing the liberal arts and stewarding vital relationships with internal and external stakeholders. In this pivotal time for the University, Mike brings the essential skills, collaborative mindset, and proven results that we need to build community and raise funds to preserve and ensure the future of our great University,” said Wittenberg’s 16th President Christian M. M. Brady. “I look forward to welcoming Mike to the leadership team and to partnering with him on the Wittenberg Way.”
With his acute ability to manage complex, high-stakes situations with strategic vision and operational precision, McGreevey has built comprehensive advancement programs, which have yielded marked growth in philanthropy and engagement. While leading Otterbein’s advancement division, McGreevey cultivated, solicited, and managed stewardship of top donors and volunteers with more than $70 million raised, as well as coordinated community, government and trustee relations for the university. Additionally, he led the planning and implementation of Otterbein’s historic Where We STAND Matters comprehensive campaign, surpassing the $50-million goal a full year ahead of schedule.
