Laurie Casteen joined DSG | Storbeck, the Education practice of DSG Global (formerly Koya Partners) in 2022 after an extensive career in higher education. Laurie enjoys assisting colleges and universities with a wide range of C-Suite and other leadership searches including administrative leadership roles of all kinds and well as academic leadership roles. Her experience spans both private and public institutions at all Carnegie Classification levels, as well as mission-focused institutions.

A seasoned leader with over 26 years of progressive experience at the University of Virginia culminating in a senior role in Student Affairs, she brings deep expertise across student affairs, Title IX, academic advising and administration, crisis management, and support for diverse and marginalized student populations, including leadership of multicultural student services and support first-generation, low-income students, and student veterans. For the last decade of her career at UVA, Laurie led the non-clinical 24/7 crisis response team, served on the threat assessment team, and focused on student safety and wellness concerns as well as general student support. Her extensive background also includes technology systems implementation and complex project management within higher education contexts.

Laurie also served as a volunteer chairwoman for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the regional accrediting body, leading teams of higher education administrators to conduct on- and off-site decennial accreditation reviews at colleges and universities throughout the southeastern United States.

An avid global traveler and active outdoor enthusiast, she has served as an administrator on two Semester at Sea voyages and volunteers extensively in her community, including civic boards & support services and as a member of the Albemarle County Search and Rescue team. Laurie holds a BA in French Literature from Bates College and earned both her MEd and PhD from the University of Virginia.
