The Alliance for Justice partnered with DSG | Koya on its search for its next President.

Alliance for Justice (AFJ) is a nonprofit organization that has been a powerful voice for justice, equity, and democracy for decades. With a proud history of defending the integrity of the courts and advancing social justice, AFJ has been at the forefront of the progressive movement, working to create a more just and equitable society. The organization is committed to upholding the values of justice, equity, and democracy, and to protecting the rights and freedoms of all individuals.

The search resulted in the appointment of Rachel Rossi as the new President of Alliance for Justice.

A trailblazer in the legal and advocacy communities, Rossi brings a remarkable legacy of public service, legislative expertise, and principled leadership to AFJ. As a seasoned advocate, she has spent her career fighting for those whose voices too often go unheard.

Prior to AFJ, Rossi served in the Biden administration’s Justice Department as Director of the Office for Access to Justice, where she developed and led innovative strategies to ensure justice reached the most vulnerable populations. Prior to that, she was Deputy Associate Attorney General, where she also served as the Department’s first Anti-Hate Coordinator under Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta.

Rossi’s career exemplifies fearless advocacy and progressive leadership. She began her distinguished legal journey as a public defender in Los Angeles, where she spent nearly a decade standing on the front lines of justice. She defended thousands of low-income clients, providing zealous representation and ensuring that the rights of the most marginalized were protected in both state and federal courts. Her passion for systemic reform led her to Capitol Hill, where she served as Counsel to Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Richard J. Durbin and played a key role in advancing the historic First Step Act.

In 2020, Rossi made history as the first former public defender to run for Los Angeles County District Attorney, earning nearly half a million votes and widespread grassroots support for her progressive vision of justice. Throughout her career, Rossi has demonstrated a deep commitment to civil rights and equity, and has been recognized for her unwavering dedication to justice and democracy.

Rossi earned her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Bethany University. She also attended Azusa Pacific University and Vanguard University.
