The Opportunity The KIPP Foundation seeks a deeply experienced General Counsel to serve as the chief legal officer and a strategic advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team. This highly visible role will lead legal strategy and governance across the Foundation and broader KIPP network, providing counsel on complex legal, regulatory, policy, and reputational matters. The General Counsel will oversee litigation, investigations, corporate governance, compliance, contracts, and legal operations while helping shape organizational strategy at the highest levels. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will bring a distinguished record of success handling high-stakes legal matters in rigorous, high-performance environments. Significant litigation experience is required, along with expertise spanning areas such as employment law, education law, compliance, corporate governance, nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, and general corporate matters. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional judgment, executive presence, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while influencing senior stakeholders and boards. Experience leading legal functions at scale, whether in-house, government, or similarly complex organizations, is strongly preferred. Compensation & Benefits
In compliance with local law, KIPP is disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $280,000-$320,000 in addition to generous benefits.
