Organization Overview
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for all people, and the largest provider of sex education in the United States. Through a nationwide network of health centers, educational programs, community partnerships, and digital resources, Planned Parenthood organizations serve millions of people each year with care and compassion, with respect, and without judgment. The organization is committed to advancing health equity and ensuring that all people have access to the information and care they need to make informed decisions about their health and lives.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, serves as the national office for a network of independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates that operate nonprofit health centers and deliver education and outreach programs across the country. PPFA provides strategic leadership, operational support, advocacy, public education, and national programs that advance the organization's mission and strengthen the impact of the affiliate network.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund, a separate nonprofit membership 501(c)(4) organization, serves as the advocacy and political arm of the movement. The Action Fund engages in public education, legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, voter engagement, and electoral activities in support of policies that protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care and rights.
Together, PPFA, the Action Fund, and the affiliate network comprise one of the nation’s most visible and influential sexual and reproductive health care movements, operating at significant scale and complexity while advancing a mission that is central to public health, health equity, and individual freedom.
