The University of Toledo Foundation seeks an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as its inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the Foundation’s chief ambassador and strategist, the CEO will play a central role in advancing transformational philanthropy – galvanizing alumni, donors, and partners around a bold vision for the University’s future. This leader will elevate the Foundation’s reach and influence, deepen engagement across key constituencies, and champion initiatives that strengthen academic excellence, student success, and community impact.

The President and CEO is the Foundation’s chief architect and champion, providing visionary leadership that shapes strategy, accelerates performance, and advances the University’s most ambitious priorities. Reporting directly to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, with a dotted reporting line to the University President, and serving as an invited member of the University President’s leadership team, the President and CEO plays a central role in stewarding the University’s $839 million in foundation assets and $681 million endowment in addition to forging alignment, inspiring investment, and translating institutional vision into philanthropic impact.
The President and CEO will develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan, provide overall leadership and oversight of advancement activities, oversee all financial operations of the Foundation, serve as the primary liaison to the Foundation Board of Trustees, provide executive-level oversight of all Foundational operations, ensure effective implementation and enhancement of the communication strategy, and build and sustain strong relationships with key university leadership.
The desired qualifications and characteristics of the University of Toledo Foundation President and CEO include a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or a related field, including at least five (5) years in a senior leadership role, a demonstrated record of successful organizational leadership, with significant experience in fundraising and donor relations, proven administrative leadership experience within higher education, preferable in Development and Alumni Relations, successful senior leadership experience with a comprehensive capital campaign, the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead high-performing teams of advancement professionals, strong strategic leadership, planning, and execution skills, exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities, and sound financial acumen, including experience with budgeting and fiscal management.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on-site in Toledo, Ohio. The base salary for this role will start at $300,000.00, commensurate with qualifications, and will include a generous benefits package.
