Role Summary

Ochsner Medical Center is seeking a full-time Electrophysiologist to join a growing tertiary-care practice in New Orleans. The position is 100% EP with a favorable call schedule and 4 dedicated EP labs. Clinic and lab duties are mostly at the main campus with some duties at regional satellite clinics and hospitals.

Ochsner Medical Center and affiliated hospitals are Gulf South regional leaders in cardiovascular care. A Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship is associated with the practice, with Cardiovascular Medicine fellows rotating through the service as well.   There is ample opportunity for teaching and education, with weekly conferences and case presentations.

The Ochsner Cardiology Department provides the full suite of heart and vascular care with dedicated Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Heart Failure/Heart transplant, Interventional Cardiology, Consultative Cardiology, Cardiovascular Imaging, Electrophysiology, and Adult Congenital Heart teams working in concert to optimize patient care.

The multidisciplinary team combines expertise with the latest advancements in treatment to provide personalized care for arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, and other heart rhythm disorders. Ochsner Health is the first in Louisiana to use Volta’s AI technology for atrial fibrillation (AFib) treatment, enhancing precision in catheter ablation procedures and improving patient outcomes.

Position Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess an active Louisiana medical license or be able obtain one.
  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine is preferred.
  • Completion of ACGME-certified residency in Cardiovascular Disease is preferred.
  • Completion of ACGME-certified fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology is preferred.
  • Candidates should have expertise with all/most of the following:
    • device implantation (including leadless device implantation)
    • atrial and ventricular ablation
    • left atrial appendage occlusion
    • laser lead extraction
    • cardioversion
    • loop monitor implant
    • cardiac device management.
