Indiana University Northwest invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (EVCAA). The EVCAA exercises broad responsibilities across all aspects of the campus's academic and student dimensions, in coordination with the Chancellor and other university leaders. One of nine campuses of Indiana University, IU Northwest is located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Park. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer for the Indiana University (IU) Northwest campus, Indiana University’s most diverse campus. The Executive Vice Chancellor holds an essential campus (and University) leadership position among colleagues on campus as well as across the regional campus network, members of the faculty, and support staff. The Executive Vice Chancellor works with the Chancellor and the other members of the campus executive Leadership Group as an active and substantive contributor to IU-Northwest’s strategic priorities, the continuous strengthening of academic excellence, the effective day-to-day operation of the IU Northwest campus, and the advancement of Indiana University. The EVCAA is responsible for the management, quality, development, coordination, evaluation, and promotion of all academic programs and courses, both on and off the IU Northwest campus. The EVCAA oversees all faculty matters and has overall responsibility for program review, accreditation, and the regular assessment of academic achievement, retention, persistence, and institutional effectiveness for program improvement. This senior-level administrator recommends allocating resources to academic units and support departments and provides supervisory oversight of their budgets. Additionally, the EVCAA oversees the development and utilization of learning resources, including the library, teaching and learning centers, and online education; develops programs to improve the quality of teaching and learning; encourages and supports faculty research, scholarship, and creative work; and promotes the cultural and intellectual growth of the academic community. The Executive Vice Chancellor convenes the deans and other academic leaders and serves as a member of the Chancellor’s Executive Leadership Group.
Required Position Qualifications
- An earned doctorate or other appropriate terminal degree, with credentials meriting appointment at the rank of full Professor in a discipline offered at IU Northwest, is required.
- Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service in higher education.
- Three years of successful leadership experience in academic administration at the level of academic dean (college leadership) or higher, including budgetary, personnel, accreditation, and academic planning responsibilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of public higher education and to regional comprehensive institutions.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a shared governance environment.
Preferred Position Qualifications
- Five years of successful leadership experience in academic administration at the level of academic dean (college leadership) or higher.
- Experience with leading grant and other alternative resource initiatives across programs and the university.
- Experience with creating and supporting professional development opportunities among faculty and staff.
- Experience with creating and leading a shared vision for academic affairs or other units within the university.
- Demonstrated success with strategically aligning budgetary and personnel management with university goals.
- Experience with enrollment management, student success initiatives, and curricular innovation, including online and collaborative programming.
- Proven track record of supporting an inclusive campus environment for faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrated creativity, integrity, and resourcefulness in academic leadership.
- Ability to sustain energy, optimism, and good judgment in a demanding senior leadership role.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on-site in Indiana. Salary is commensurate with experience, with a generous benefits package.
