The Vice President of State Government Relations (SGR) is a management and lobbyist position which leads a team with responsibility for public policy advocacy on agriculture, biofuel, environment, nutrition, sustainability/climate, and tax issues for ADM’s U.S. state business. The successful candidate must have experience with agriculture, biofuels, and nutrition issues as well as experience in the corporate sector. Experience working in and/or having an established network in state governments, primarily, but not limited to the Mid-West is required. The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high level of interpersonal, communications (verbal and written), organizational, and managements skills as well as the ability to work across functional disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead SGR team and coordinate strategy on key public policy issues affecting ADM.
  • Develop and execute advocacy and issue management plans with internal business leaders.
  • Represent ADM in policy discussions, trade associations, and engagements with state officials.
  • Provide policy insights and strategic updates to business stakeholders.
  • Manage team strategy, planning, and budget in partnership with Global Government Relations leadership.
  • Advance ADM’s policy priorities with state officials and stakeholders in IL, MN, ND, and CA.
  • Educate external stakeholders on ADM’s corporate strategy and advocate for relevant state grants and incentives.
Qualifications
  • 10–15+ years of state government relations and related private-sector experience.
  • Strong bipartisan stakeholder network across key states and relevant policy sectors.
  • Expertise in advocacy, issue management, and association/ consultant management.
  • Ability to translate complex policy issues for both business and government audiences.
  • Strategic leader with strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $289,000-$325,000. The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
