About Children in Conflict

Children in Conflict (CiC) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children whose lives have been devastated by war. Operating at the intersection of humanitarian service and deep community partnership, CiC and its partners deliver programs that keep children safe, support their mental recovery from the trauma of extreme violence, and get them back into education.

Children in Conflict is the US member of the War Child Alliance, a global network of organizations which provided transformational support to over one million children and carers in 2025, in conflict zones ranging from Gaza to Sudan and Afghanistan.

Alongside program implementation Children in Conflict are world leaders in building the evidence base for psychosocial interventions in war affected communities, developing a care system based on learnings from randomized control trials and producing over 65 papers in peer reviewed journals included the Lancet and Child Psychology.  Their high impact models are implemented in over 30 countries by other NGOs, including Save the Children and MSF.  This highly scalable model is leveraging significant support from impact focused foundations, following the launch of their $100m acceleration fund at Davos in January 2026.

Children in Conflict, and the War Child Alliance overall, are a rapidly growing part of the humanitarian system, driven by a shared belief that emergency responses should be re framed to focus on the protection of human capital, and re-imagined as the first part of the pathway to recovery for children who suffer psychological harm at levels which can have lifetime impacts unless they are addressed as soon as possible.  Armed with the science, with a set of methodologies that can be adopted at scale across the world, CiC aims to help millions of children and transform the humanitarian system in the process.

The Opportunity

Children in Conflict is experiencing a period of expansion. A newly energized leadership team is pursuing a strategy for rapid income growth through the mutually reinforcing combination of philanthropy and music.  CiC and the War Child family have a deep history of collaboration with the music industry.  Artists including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, the Arctic Monkeys, Mumford and Sons, Brandi Carlile and many others support the organization through concerts, recordings, promotions and fundraising activations at shows in Europe and the USA.  CiC works closely with a range of Global Ambassadors including Carey Mulligan, Marcus Mumford, Gillian Anderson, Brandi Carlile, Stanley Tucci.  With their help CiC is able to convene individual philanthropists, high profile celebrities and corporate supporters to events in New York, New York and across the USA.

The Senior Philanthropy Officer is a newly created role designed to bring rigor and high-level skills to the challenge of building long term and committed relationships with the donor base that they have, and the new donors they will attract with this new strategy. To date, fundraising has been driven primarily through events and relationship-based cultivation. The next chapter calls for a more intentional, strategy-driven approach that codifies best practices, builds long-term donor pipelines, and positions the organization to grow philanthropic giving significantly over the coming years.

The Senior Philanthropy Officer will be a key architect of this evolution, building the infrastructure, strategy, and relationships necessary to unlock new levels of philanthropic support. Reporting to CEO Rob Williams, the Senior Philanthropy Officer will collaborate closely with the CEO, board members, and the organization’s Ambassador community, and will have the opportunity to expand the team.
