Eckerd College invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Student Accounts. The Director of Student Accounts will be responsible for all aspects of student billing and will require the ability to facilitate processes and interactions across multiple divisions of the College and to promote a student-centered, service-oriented atmosphere.
Founded as Florida Presbyterian College in 1958 and renamed in 1972, Eckerd College has grown steadily over the years, while retaining its focus on creative, innovative curricula rooted in the liberal arts tradition with a strong emphasis on small classes and world-class faculty who know and care about the success of every student. Eckerd is a private, liberal arts institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate degrees. Located in St. Petersburg, FL, about 1,800 students study, work and play together on campus every day. The average class size is 19 students with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
The Director of Student Accounts provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for student billing, accounts receivable, cashiering, and related student financial services functions for Eckerd College. Reporting to the Vice President of Business and Finance, this position plays a critical role in supporting the College’s enrollment, reenrollment, retention, and student success goals through accurate, compliant, and student-centered administration of student account processes.
The Director leads the Student Accounts team and collaborates closely with Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, Finance, Admissions, and other campus partners to ensure a seamless, efficient, and well-coordinated enrollment services experience. This role is responsible for strengthening service delivery, improving operational workflows, identifying opportunities for automation, and supporting the thoughtful use of technology to enhance student services and administrative processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required plus five (5) years of applicable experience preferably in higher education or non-profit.
Ability to plan, manage, and direct the work of others.
Ability to establish departmental goals and objectives and measure the department’s success toward achievement.
Ability to provide excellent customer service with professional, helpful, and positive demeanor
Exceptional oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with a diverse campus community
Ability to prioritize, organize, delegate, and complete assigned duties and responsibilities to meet deadlines
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable Federal and state regulations and guidelines
Knowledge of and skills in Microsoft Office and G-Suite
Excellent skills in analytical problem-solving and decision-making
Ability to handle and process confidential and sensitive student financial information with discretion
