Role Summary

The Florida International University (FIU) Center for Translational Science (CTS) is seeking exceptional basic and translational science investigators to build a multi-investigator Aging Translational Research Team based in Port St. Lucie, Florida. As such, FIU invites applications for full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Candidates for this position are expected to hold a PhD and/or an MD, with postdoctoral training in a related field, preferably one related to aging and aging-related chronic inflammation. A strong record of impactful scientific discovery and a trajectory of extramural funding (R01-level or equivalent) in the field(s) of biology of aging, age-related disease, and longevity science are expected.

Successful candidates will join a highly collaborative and interactive environment designed to accelerate translational breakthroughs through shared core facilities, multi-PI laboratories, and cross-disciplinary engagement. Successful candidates will be expected to build and maintain an innovative and independent research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations), contribute to the scientific mission of CTS through collaboration and mentorship, and participate in graduate education and training activities within Florida International University. Faculty academic appointment can be within any of FIU’s colleges/schools but will most likely be within the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Serving tens of thousands of older adults across multiple clinical sites, Leon Medical Centers offers a uniquely rich clinical and population-health environment for translational aging research. This partnership creates powerful opportunities to align mechanistic discovery with real-world clinical insights, longitudinal patient data, and population-level aging outcomes.
