The Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network (PMCN) is a collaborative healthcare system uniting three independent, community-focused hospitals that are deeply rooted in the rural communities they serve. PMCN was formed with a shared vision: to preserve local identity and autonomy while leveraging the collective strength of a coordinated network to enhance quality, increase operational efficiency, and improve access to care across west-central Pennsylvania. PMCN includes the following core member hospitals - Indiana Regional Medical Center, Punxsutawney Area Hospital and Armstrong Center for Medicine & Health Hospital.

Serving Indiana, Jefferson, Armstrong, and portions of Clearfield, Cambria, and Westmoreland counties, the network represents a population of nearly a quarter of a million residents. The member hospitals share resources, align strategic initiatives, and collaborate clinically and operationally, creating synergies that strengthen the delivery of patient-centered care while maintaining each institution’s unique culture and longstanding community relationships.

This Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) / Controller is a member of the Finance leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the financial position of Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network (PMCN). The CAO will supervise, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the accounting activity of the organization including General Accounting, Fixed Assets and Fund Accounting.

As a critical member of the Finance Leadership Team, the CAO leads the operations of the Corporate Finance department including standardizing processes, enhancing the internal control environment, overseeing the monthly financial close process, ensures all monthly reconciliations are completed timely to safeguard company assets and become the change agent for the department. This role also supports the annual financial audit, meets both internal and external auditors and ensures the financial statements are presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The CAO partners with other finance leaders and operations management to drive business results, implement cross-functional strategies, provide strategic business analysis and recommendations, assess risks and opportunities, and develop action plans for complex business issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or equivalent Business Administration
  • Minimum of five years of managerial experience
  • CPA preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • Demonstrates advanced GAAP knowledge and the ability to research complex accounting issues and standards
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, financial reporting, and an ability to work closely with internal and external auditors
  • Cerner and Meditech experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Cerner Revenue Cycle and Axiom Operational and Capital Budget preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

The CAO / Controller will have the following combination of skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with leadership experience, and a track record of success in significant roles of progressive responsibility.
  • Comfortable working in a complex matrixed organization.
  • Strong sense of mission and an active, engaged leadership style.
  • Operationally savvy with a problem-solving mindset, a high focus on metrics.
  • Clearly knowledgeable in their field of expertise yet able to demonstrate humility and exceptional skills in developing and forging successful working relationships with executive leadership, physicians, and other key functional stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to partner with executive and system leadership in strategic and tactical planning and implementation.
  • Technically savvy with strong quantitative/analytical acumen.
  • Highly successful in driving change within an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, analytic, and oral and written communication skills. In particular, the ability to foster teamwork and coordination of care among diverse stakeholders is essential.
