Serving more than 4,000 members across 40+ countries, the Club is widely recognized as the central gathering place for the Harvard alumni community and its affiliated network.

Today, the Club offers a dynamic mix of social, intellectual, athletic, and professional experiences. Members benefit from exceptional dining, thoughtfully curated programming, overnight accommodations, modern athletic facilities, and access to a growing portfolio of events designed to foster connection, learning, and community.

Recent investments and enhancements have positioned the Club as a contemporary and welcoming destination—blending tradition with innovation. The Club continues to expand its offerings through elevated dining experiences, expanded member programming, modernized fitness and wellness amenities, and a strong calendar of social and professional events.

With a highly engaged membership base, a committed Board of Governors, and a strong, experienced leadership team in place, the Harvard Club of Boston is well-positioned for its next phase of growth and continued relevance as the heart of the Harvard community in Greater Boston and beyond.

Signature touchpoints now include co-hosting the annual Visitas Parent Reception (750+ attendees in 2025), First-Year Move-In receptions, Family Weekend events, the Rising Scholars Program for first-generation Harvard students, and commencement programming. The Club also serves as a venue and co-sponsor for Harvard Business School Senior Executive Leadership Programs and a growing range of Harvard College and HBS Association of Boston events, reflecting the Club’s expanding role as a bridge between Harvard University and its alumni community.

The Opportunity

The Harvard Club of Boston seeks a visionary and strategic Chief Membership Officer (CMO) to lead the Club’s next chapter of membership growth, engagement, and brand leadership. Reporting to the General Manager/CEO and working closely with the Board of Governors, the CMO will serve as the senior executive responsible for developing and executing an integrated strategy for membership growth, engagement, marketing, and communications.

This role represents a unique opportunity to shape the long-term vitality of one of the country’s most distinguished alumni clubs. The CMO will steward and expand a global community of more than 4,000 members, while strengthening the Club’s position as the premier social, intellectual, and athletic hub for the Harvard alumni community and affiliated institutions. Boston represents the highest concentration of Harvard alumni in the world, with more than 60,000 alumni living within an hour’s drive of the Club. This role presents a significant opportunity to activate this highly addressable and engaged market, deepening connection, expanding membership, and driving long-term growth.

The Chief Membership Officer will lead a multidisciplinary team spanning Membership Development, Events & Programming, Marketing & Communications, and Member Relations, bringing these functions together under a unified strategy that maximizes member value and long-term engagement.

Working in close partnership with the executive leadership team and Board committees, the CMO will translate the Club’s strong membership base and $7.4M dues revenue portfolio into a forward-looking growth strategy focused on acquisition, retention, and lifetime member engagement. The CMO will leverage data, market insight, and member experience design to strengthen the Club’s competitive positioning among premier alumni clubs and professional communities.

The successful candidate will bring the strategic mindset, analytical rigor, and collaborative leadership required to elevate membership as a central driver of the Club’s mission, culture, and financial sustainability.
