The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and serving as a key member of the leadership team, the Vice President of Marketing & Communications (VPMC) leads the organization’s marketing, communications, brand, and public presence in service of its mission to address homelessness with dignity, effectiveness, and urgency.
This role is both strategic and highly operational. The VPMC translates organizational priorities into clear, executable marketing and communications plans and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery across all internal and external stakeholders.
As Vice President of Marketing & Communications, your leadership directly supports the resources that make services possible, elevates public understanding of homelessness as a solvable challenge, and drives the awareness and donor engagement needed to sustain long-term impact.
Strong candidates will offer:
- Multiple years of progressive marketing and brand leadership experience, ideally within nonprofit, mission-driven, or social impact organizations.
- Demonstrated use of creativity and novel approaches to elevate your client’s voice above the noise.
- Proven experience leading teams, managing cross-functional initiatives, and driving strategic outcomes.
- Advanced knowledge of marketing, branding, and integrated communications strategies.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex social issues into clear, compelling narratives.
- Strategic thinking, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive, reputational, or high-stakes issues with discretion and sound judgment.
- Commitment to equity, dignity, and ethical storytelling in work related to homelessness.
- Demonstrated experience building or strengthening a marketing function and bringing structure, discipline, and measurable performance standards to teams.
- Demonstrated ability to define KPIs, establish OKRs or SMART goals, and hold teams accountable to meaningful business metrics.
- Entrepreneurial, startup-oriented mindset with experience operating in evolving or ambiguous environments.
- Strong experience in earned media and proactive public positioning.
- Ability to move fluidly between big-picture strategic vision and detailed execution.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the VPMC is $175,000 to $210,000, commensurate with experience. LifeMoves also offers a competitive benefits package.
