Community Health Care is a mission-driven, nonprofit community health system serving Tacoma and the broader Pierce County region.  For more than three decades, the organization has been a cornerstone of accessible, comprehensive healthcare for individuals and families regardless of income, insurance status, language, or background.  Today, with a staff of 600 and 135 providers, it serves more than 54,000 patients annually through a robust network of medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy locations across the county.  One of every eighteen people in Pierce County is a Community Health Care patient.

The organization delivers fully integrated primary care for adults and children, women’s health and maternity services, pediatric care, chronic disease management, HIV specialty services, and on-site pharmacy support. Dental services are provided across multiple sites, ensuring continuity of care for families. Behavioral health is embedded within primary care settings, reflecting a whole-person model that addresses both physical and mental health needs. Community Health Care also operates school-based health centers and provides insurance enrollment assistance, reinforcing its commitment to removing barriers to care.  As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Community Health Care plays a critical role in the regional healthcare ecosystem—partnering with public agencies, hospitals, and community organizations to advance population health and health equity.

Under the general direction of the Board of Directors, the CEO provides strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the organization in alignment with its mission and long-term objectives.  The CEO positions the organization to effectively navigate changes in healthcare reform, drives growth and innovation, and strengthens its role as a leader in community-based healthcare delivery.  The role also carries responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered services through robust quality improvement systems and performance management processes.  In addition, the CEO cultivates strong collaborations with healthcare partners and community organizations to advance the mission and broaden access to care.

For executive leaders seeking to combine operational excellence with meaningful community impact, Community Health Care represents an opportunity to lead within a high-mission, high-visibility healthcare organization that is central to the health and well-being of Pierce County.
