Chapman University has retained DSG Storbeck to assist in the search for the Dean of the Schmid College of Science and Technology. Chapman University, located in the heart of Orange County, California, is an exciting and ever evolving hub of science, technology, business, and the arts. The university embraces an interdisciplinary approach to teaching, learning, performance, scholarship, and research in its undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. 

Founded in 1861, Chapman serves nearly 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Students can choose from over 100 areas of study within 11 colleges for a personalized education. Chapman is categorized by the Carnegie Classification as an R2 “high research activity” institution. Students at Chapman learn directly from distinguished world-class faculty including Nobel Prize winners, MacArthur fellows, published authors and Academy Award winners. The university has produced a Rhodes Scholar, been named a top producer of Fulbright Scholars, and hosts a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society.

Reporting to the executive vice president and provost, the dean will provide leadership to, and advocate for, the college’s academic programs, centers, and research. The incoming dean will be an established scholar and academic leader who understands the future of science, technology, and mathematics research and education. The dean will work with faculty, staff, and others to continue to enhance Schmid College’s visibility, reputation, and ranking; grow the college's research portfolio and extramural and grant funding; work collaboratively with the Rinker Health Science Campus and Fowler School of Engineering; and ensure that all Schmid students have access to excellent educational and research opportunities as well as career and professional advising and support. The dean serves as an integral member of the provost’s leadership team and will partner with the deans across Chapman University, fostering collaboration and championing academic excellence.
