Tulane University Libraries (Libraries) seek a forward-thinking, collaborative, and reflective leader to shape the future of resource and discovery services. The Director of Resource and Discovery Services will lead a newly reimagined division that integrates acquisitions, electronic resource management, and cata-loging and metadata operations into a cohesive, forward-looking model. Reporting to the Vice Dean within the Libraries’ Research and Resource Strategies portfolio, the Director will champion innovation, foster collaboration, and build systems that anticipate the evolving needs of a global research community.This role is central to ensuring that Tulane scholars have seamless access to the resources that power research, teaching, and learning. The Director will guide strategic approaches to acquisition, description, workflows, and discovery—balancing continuity with transformation to deliver efficiency and impact. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, the Director will cultivate relationships, help negotiate agreements, and lead a talented team of more than 20 librarians and staff toward shared goals.As a member of both the Libraries’ Leadership Team and the Research and Resource Strategies Leadership Team, the Director will contribute to institutional strategy and advocate for resource and discovery prior-ities. The successful candidate will bring creativity, technological fluency, and a collaborative mindset to advance digital collections, metadata innovation, and user-centered access models. The Director of Resource and Discovery Services provides leadership and strategic direction for acquisitions, electronic resource management, and cataloging and metadata operations. The Director fosters a culture of innovation and teamwork while managing TUL’s Resource & Discovery Services division, which includes more than 20 full-time librarians and staff. The Director directly supervises two department heads: the Head of Acquisitions and Electronic Resource Management and the Head of Cataloging and Metadata.The Director guides operations through strategic planning, culture-driven leadership, ongoing evaluation, and cross-department collaboration to support and align with TUL’s and the university’s evolving goals, ensuring that division policies and procedures are documented and regularly updated.
