Bridge Preparatory Charter School, an innovative, public charter elementary school with literacy access and academic success at its core, is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer. Founded in 2019 and located in Staten Island, NY, Bridge Prep is designed to serve students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences, though it remains open to any student, regardless of learning profile. Bridge Prep offers a structured-literacy, multisensory curriculum (informed by methods such as the Orton-Gillingham approach) and small class sizes, with a priority on personalized instruction, direct interventions, and social-emotional supports. By combining rigorous academic programming with a student-centered, caring community, the school aims to provide an accessible, free, public-school option that otherwise might only exist in private or out-of-district special-education settings. Bridge Prep serves approximately 270 students in K-5th grade and has positioned itself as a unique and important resource for families in Staten Island, Brooklyn, and across New York seeking specialized, inclusive education.
Bridge Prep’s approach to education combines the science of reading: research-based literacy instruction, personalized, adaptive teaching, and holistic student support, all structured to give students with language-based learning differences a strong foundation in reading and writing while fostering their overall development as learners and individuals. Beyond reading instruction, Bridge Prep emphasizes the whole-child, student-centered learning environment and supports students with integrated co-teaching. Classrooms are designed for low student-to-teacher ratios and ability-based flexible grouping, so instruction and support can be tailored to each student’s current level and needs. The school pairs rigorous academic programming with social-emotional learning, enrichment, and creative expression to support not just academic growth but also self-confidence, resilience, and long-term success.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead a small-but-mighty community, defined by the strength of its mission and the heart of its people. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, proven expertise, and demonstrated experience in a mission-aligned school, charter organization, or nonprofit and can confidently steward the mission and guide the school through its founder transition. The CEO serves as the organizational leader of Bridge Preparatory Charter School and is responsible for ensuring the academic, operational, financial, and cultural success of the school in alignment with its mission to serve students with language-based learning differences. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Trustees and manages the Principal and non-instructional leadership staff. The CEO is the primary liaison to the New York State Education Department (NYSED), external partners, and the broader community.
The CEO will be responsible for: executive and strategic leadership; academic excellence and outcomes; school culture and stakeholder engagement; operations and finance; board governance and authorizer relationships. The CEO will manage these responsibilities while managing the key priorities of community, family, & staff culture, leading Bridge Prep’s Charter renewal; academic excellence and student outcomes; growth, sustainability and operational effectiveness.
