University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) is seeking a Vice President of Risk Management. Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, UTMC is the regions premier not-for-profit academic medical center, dedicated to advancing health through exceptional patient care, education, and discovery. With 700+ beds and a level I trauma medical center, UTMC draws from a vast 21 county geography.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President & General Counsel, the Vice President of Risk Management is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide risk strategy including corporate insurance programs, workers’ compensation, claims management, healthcare-related litigation, and patient advocacy.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned healthcare risk professional with a forward-thinking approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk across clinical, operational, and financial domains. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Vice President of Risk Management plays a pivotal role in safeguarding organizational assets, driving compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and advancing a culture of safety, transparency, and accountability that supports UT Medical Center’s mission and values.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Risk Management or clinical, medical or other disciplines with related significance. Preference may be given to individuals holding advanced degrees including Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Juris Doctor (JD).
- Minimum of 8 years in similar lead risk management position or related positions of risk management with increasing responsibility with significant responsibility for overall structure and operation of enterprise-wide risk management program.
