The Role of General Counsel and  Vice Chancellor for Legal, Audit, Risk and Compliance

Reporting to the Chancellor and serving as an integral member of the cabinet, the General Counsel will be pivotal in guiding the university through a dynamic period of growth and transformation. As the university’s chief legal officer, the General Counsel will consistently safeguard the university’s legal interests, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, while mitigating legal risks across all aspects of the university’s educational, research and clinical enterprise. This position will work with various offices, both on campus and off, in such areas as contract law, bidding and purchasing regulations, employment law, civil rights of students and employees, copyright and intellectual property rights, immigration law and laws and regulations affecting academic research. At the same time, the role leads through meaningful challenges that require sound judgment, adaptability and the ability to balance risk management with advancing UNC Pembroke’s mission.

Application Information

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in North Carolina. Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary and competitive benefits package.
