About MPMSDC
The Mountain Plains Minority Supplier Development Council (“MPMSDC” or “The Council”) is a regional affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (“NMSDC”), committed to advancing economic inclusion by connecting certified small and Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) with major corporations, government agencies, and other business partners.
Today, MPMSDC is one of 23 affiliates of the NMSDC and serves Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Western Missouri.
Background
The Mountain Plains Minority Supplier Development Council traces its roots back to 1974, when it was originally incorporated as Minority Enterprises, Inc. This effort began after a group of corporate executives from the Rocky Mountain region convened at the Denver Chamber of Commerce to discuss the future of minority business in Colorado. That initiative, held through monthly meetings, led to the formation of the Executive Task Force—and ultimately evolved into the Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council, the predecessor of MPMSDC.Then, in 2014, with the introduction by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) of a strategic plan for 2012–2016, the Council’s service area was realigned (to include Colorado, Kansas, Western Missouri, and Nebraska) and its name was officially updated to Mountain Plains MSDC to reflect the new regional coverage.
At MPMSDC, the mission is to bridge the gap between America’s dynamic small and minority-owned businesses and the broader corporate world. The Council provides greater access to these enterprises by offering robust support systems that drive their growth. MPMSDC’s initiatives are designed to help firms expand their operations, scale up production, and enhance their overall capacity. By doing so, MPMSDC not only empowers small business owners and minority entrepreneurs to overcome barriers and thrive in competitive markets but also stimulate job creation and retention across communities.
Through targeted training programs, strategic partnerships, and comprehensive networking opportunities, MPMSDC equips small and minority-owned businesses with the tools and resources needed to succeed on a national—and even global—stage. In essence, MPMSDC is fostering a more diverse, resilient, and inclusive economy where every business has the opportunity to contribute to America’s prosperity.
Today, MPMSDC has 4 full-time staff members and an operating budget of approximately $1.5 million.
