
Germanna Community College invites applications and nominations for the next President.
Germanna seeks an innovative and strategic leader who will help fulfill the mission of Germanna as a public, comprehensive community college that provides accessible, high-quality educational and training opportunities that address our communities’ learning needs. The new President must be able to navigate the challenges of a large and complex institution with a spirit of collaboration, creating an environment where students, faculty, staff, and community members can thrive. In addition, the new President must be skilled in managing the financial dealings of the College, community engagement, strategic planning, human resources, and legislative advocacy at the local and state levels.
Established in 1970 as part of the Virginia Community College System, Germanna is a comprehensive community college providing quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania, and Stafford and for online learners everywhere. The Greater Fredericksburg Region is a dynamic and historically significant area in Virginia, located midway between Washington, D.C., and Richmond. It's a rapidly growing market known for its blend of historical charm, cultural attractions, and a vibrant economy. Germanna serves more than 11,000 students enrolled across credit and workforce programs. Learners range from dual enrolled high school students to adult career-changers.
The next president will bring Integrity, transparency, and ethical decision-making to the role and must prioritize student success as a core institutional value, focusing on retention, completion, and transfer outcomes. They will be a strategic, forward-thinking leader who can articulate and pursue a clear and ambitious vision for the College’s future. The president will preserve and expand partnerships with local businesses, industries, governments, nonprofits, and educational institutions. Equally important is the focus on nurturing the supportive and collegial environment on campus with a steadfast commitment to maintaining a culture of belonging. The president must possess strong financial management skills including strategic budgeting, resource allocation, and the ability to cultivate external support through private giving and public partnerships.
