Medical Director, Heart Failure, Charlotte Region

Novant Health is seeking a dynamic physician leader who possesses an entrepreneurial spirit to build their Advanced Heart Failure Program in the Charlotte Region. The Inaugural Medical Director will establish, lead, and grow an Advanced Heart Failure Program in the Charlotte Region of the Novant Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI). This individual will be responsible for developing all elements of a successful heart failure program in the region, including the full spectrum of treatment modalities, mechanical support, VAD, and planning for transplant. The Medical Director will support inpatient, outpatient, and transition management. This is an opportunity for a creative physician leader to work in a collaborative relationship with HVI administrative and clinical leaders to create a full-service Heart Failure Program.
The Medical Director will be the accountable clinical executive for all Heart Failure services provided in the Charlotte Region, across all sites of service. Key activities include short- and long-term strategic planning, leading physicians and other providers in growing and optimizing clinical operations and capturing financial efficiencies. S/he will spearhead the ground-up build of the heart failure program, including establishing a destination care center at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, as well as establishing outreach and clinical support at our six surrounding hospitals and eleven ambulatory sites within the Charlotte region of the HVI. This individual will play an integral role on the Heart & Vascular Institute leadership council.
The Medical Director of Heart Failure will split his or her time between clinical practice and administration. This position will benefit from a high-volume ambulatory practice with an established referral base and hospital presence, along with a newly established interventional coronary and vascular interventional program that is growing rapidly. The successful candidate will be an experienced and entrepreneurial cardiologist who can lead the program to achieve exceptional outcomes in quality, safety, patient experience, and growth.
Qualifications
MD, or equivalent degree with fellowship and ABIM board certification in Cardiovascular Disease; additional fellowship training in Heart Failure highly preferred.
ABIM sub-specialty board certification in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology is required.
Must hold, or be eligible for, unrestricted state medical license in the state of North Carolina.
A strong commitment to patient care, reflecting a service-oriented philosophy with hospital administration and with colleagues in other specialties.
Evidence of promoting and supporting teaching and scholarly activities.
Demonstrated potential for building clinically strong programs. A successful record of accomplishment in recruitment and development of staff.
A distinguished record of scholarly activity, teaching, and clinical care is desired.
