
We are proud to be partnering with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), as they seek a Chief Nursing Officer in Harrisburg, PA for UPMC Community Osteopathic.
UPMC Community Osteopathic, located in suburban Harrisburg, is an acute care hospital licensed for 175 beds. The hospital is technically part of the region’s flagship hospital, UPMC Harrisburg. The CNO will report to the President of UPMC Harrisburg.

UPMC also has a more than 4-million-member Insurance Services Division, which makes it the largest medical insurer in western Pennsylvania.
The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for driving, supporting, and modeling a caring service-oriented professional culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience.
Required Qualifications:
- BSN required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related health care field required; PhD or DNP in Nursing preferred.
- At least seven years of progressively increasing experience in senior nursing leadership roles; depth managing diverse patient care functions in a hospital or matrixed health system of relevant size, scale and complexity.
- Prior CNO experience preferred.
- Experience in a Magnet designated environment will be seen favorably.
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure; National Nurse Executive Certification (ANCC NEA-BC) preferred.
- Ability to successfully navigate a matrixed organizational structure.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including staff development, mentoring, and coaching. Excellent communication (verbal and written) presentation and platform skills.
