The System Chair, Pathology and Lab Medicine serves in a leadership role with operational and strategic oversight and accountability for Pathology and Lab Medicine for all aspects of the Ochsner Health service line.  This role will partner with the System Chairs of Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, executives across the Ochsner Health System Service Line, members of the medical staff, and technical staff to deliver quality care in a patient focused environment.  The Ochsner Health System has expanded dramatically over the years with increased partnerships across the state of Louisiana and Mississippi as well as an intentional focus to more subspecialized care. There is an opportunity to drive standardization, consistency, and alignment amongst all laboratories, pathology subspecialties and locations.  In addition, engagement with the academics, research and the medical school as well as multiple regional lab professional training programs are essential for workforce strategies and success of Ochsner Health.

Like all physician leadership positions at Ochsner, the role has administrative leadership dyad partner, the VP of Hospital Based Service Line-Laboratory.  

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of leadership at the section or departmental level.
  • M.D. or D.O. degree with active Board Certification through the American Board of Pathology.
  •  Current license, or eligible for medical license, in the state of Louisiana and Mississippi.
  •  Active credentials within Ochsner Health and willingness to maintain clinical practice.
  •  Experience as a Department Chair, with academic experience desired.
