After a national search, Tuskegee University is proud to announce that Dr. Ebony Gilbreath has been appointed Dean of the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM), effective October 31.
“It is a profound honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading this College as dean, joining so many other esteemed TUCVM graduates who have served as leaders within the field of veterinary medicine, including deans, researchers, clinicians and advocates,” said Dr. Gilbreath. “Together, our talented students, faculty, and staff within the college, in collaboration with our alumni, will continue to sustain the great legacy of this historic program at Tuskegee University and propel it to new heights,” said Dr. Gilbreath.
Dr. Gilbreath had served as the Interim Dean for TUCVM since June 3, 2025, following the retirement of Dr. Ruby Perry, who served as dean for 11 years.
Previously Dr. Gilbreath was appointed as the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs for the college after serving as Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs during the beginning of the spring 2023 semester.
Dr. Gilbreath is a board-certified veterinary anatomic pathologist who has served on the faculty at Tuskegee University since 2011. She previously served as the Assistant Dean for Pre-Clinical Programs, Department Head of Pathobiology for three years, and also served as Section Chief of Necropsy and as the Diversity and Inclusion Representative for the College.
