About NextGen America

NextGen America’s mission is to empower young voters to engage in the political process and ensure our government is responsive to the largest and most diverse generation in American History. NextGen was founded in 2013 on the idea that only the courage and imagination of young people could solve our country’s most pressing issues, from climate change to racial and economic equality. By building infrastructure rooted in the education and empowerment of young people ages 18-29, NextGen helps ensure their consistent civic engagement and leadership.

Today, NextGen America is the nation’s largest youth voter organization, mobilizing millions of young people each year to make their voices heard on campuses, in their communities, and at the voting booth. NextGen America is a multi-issue and multi-racial organization with a holistic layered approach that has helped us effectively connect with young people on key issues and mobilize millions of young voters to the polls. Over the last decade, NextGen America has tested and developed the best tactics and strategies to reach young voters, at a level of sophistication and scale that is unmatched. Since its founding, NextGen America registered over 1.6 million young people to vote.

The Opportunity

We know that young people are the future of this country. Time and again, history has shown this. Nearly every time our country has made a great leap forward, it was fueled by the imagination and courage of young people. Because of their determination and commitment, both policies and minds have been and continue to be changed. But a prosperous and equitable future is dependent on our ability to consistently engage them in our democracy — and this goes beyond any one election.

Young people are now the largest voting bloc in the country. Given the national volatility and current efforts to undermine the credibility of elections, NextGen’s work is more important than ever – working to build a more inclusive and representative democracy that all people can rely on to act in their best interests — not just for themselves and not just for right now, but for future generations to come.

NextGen America is seeking a strategic, inclusive, and inspirational CEO to capitalize on NextGen’s experience and national reputation as a formidable changemaker to lead it into its next phase of impact. This individual will lead the organization into its next chapter of growth, elevating its role in the national landscape, and ensuring that it remains a powerful, mission-driven workplace for its staff and a transformative force for youth civic engagement.

● Partnering with the Board of Directors to enhance fundraising efforts, leverage their expertise in the service of NextGen’s work, and to maintain transparent and timely communication for strategic decision-making;

● Ensuring that the day-to-day operations are professionally and efficiently organized and administered; oversee the organization’s financial operations; oversee the budgetary process and ensure that sound financial controls are in place;

● Cultivating and nurturing relationships across a diverse array of stakeholders including those internal to the organization and external stakeholders so that all are appropriately engaged across the organization and feel supported, informed, and empowered;

● Serving as the primary spokesperson for NextGen effectively representing the organization’s mission and programs as an articulate marketer, fundraiser, and communicator, to stakeholders, the media, and the general public.
