Dillard University invites nominations and applications for the Vice President for Institutional Advancement position. The university seeks an experienced advancement fundraiser and leader who understands all aspects of capital campaigns, stewardship, and alumni engagement. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of her cabinet, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement oversees the Development and Alumni Relations offices. Specific areas of responsibility include designing, implementing, and managing annual operations and fundraising plans for the departments within the Division.

Dillard University is a private, historically Black university (HBCU) located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is known for its strong liberal arts education and commitment to its students' holistic development.  The university's picturesque 55-acre campus is in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, known for its handsome white buildings, stately live oak trees, and expansive green spaces. The campus design encourages walking, with all buildings easily accessible within a short stroll. Its location in a vibrant metropolitan area provides students with opportunities to engage in the rich culture of New Orleans while enjoying a focused academic environment.

The VP is responsible for daily supervisory and operations management for the Development and Alumni Relations offices. Duties include annual giving campaigns for large and lesser amounts, special fundraising events, donor cultivation, stewarding donors, assisting the integration of the annual fund into overall fundraising, including developing and implementing strategies for electronic cultivation and solicitation, phone-a-thon, direct mail, and matching gifts. The VP will provide strategic leadership, long-term and short-term planning for the annual fund, recruit volunteers, and cultivate key constituency groups (i.e., alumni, friends, faculty/staff, parents, students, UNCF, United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church).

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a master’s degree and significant related experience in resource development, advancement, or related fields.  He or she will be a positive force, an independent thinker with a creative, can-do, and open mindset who sees opportunity and is not thwarted by challenge.  The leader will have a healthy respect for tradition but will have a desire to build upon legacies and reimagine possibilities through a future-oriented lens.   The next vice president will have high energy and a desire to become involved and entrenched in the local community and culture while cultivating relationships and partnerships throughout the nation with individuals, businesses, organizations, and governmental entities. They will also have excellent technical, technology, and financial management skills and be committed to Dillard's honesty, trustworthiness, and dependability mission.
