We are proud to be partnering with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), as they seek a Chief Nursing Officer for two hospitals – UPMC East and UPMC McKeesport in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
- UPMC East is a state-of-the-art community hospital with 155-beds located in Monroeville, PA (12 miles east of downtown Pittsburgh).
- UPMC McKeesport is licensed for 176-beds and is located in McKeesport, PA (15 miles southeast of Pittsburgh).
As a system, UPMC is now the largest nongovernmental employer in Pennsylvania with over 92,000 employees, 40 academic, community, and specialty hospitals, and 800 doctors’ offices and outpatient sites. UPMC also has a more than 4-million-member Insurance Services Division, which makes it the largest medical insurer in western Pennsylvania.
Reporting to the President of UPMC East & UPMC McKeesport, the Chief Nursing Officer provides executive nursing management, direction, and leadership. The CNO is responsible for driving, supporting, and modeling a caring service-oriented professional culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience.
Required Qualifications:
- BSN required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related health care field required; PhD or DNP in Nursing preferred.
- At least five years of progressively increasing experience in senior nursing leadership roles; depth managing diverse patient care functions in a hospital or matrixed health system of relevant size, scale, and complexity.
- Prior CNO experience preferred.
- Experience in a Magnet designated environment will be seen favorably.
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure; National Nurse Executive Certification (ANCC NEA-BC) preferred.
- Ability to successfully navigate a matrixed organizational structure.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including staff development, mentoring, and coaching. Excellent communication (verbal and written) presentation and platform skills.
