Boston Children's Health Physicians, New York & Connecticut (BCHP) is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief of Pediatric Cardiology to lead our Pediatric Cardiology Division. This key leadership position requires a dynamic, compassionate, and strategic physician dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care for children through exceptional clinical practice, education, and research. The Chief will be responsible for fostering growth, quality, and innovation in our Pediatric Cardiology program to deliver the highest standards of care to our patients and their families. BCHP is a highly respected network of over 300 pediatric care providers affiliated with Boston Children’s Hospital, extending its renowned expertise to families throughout New York and Connecticut. As one of the leading pediatric groups in the country, BCHP offers a comprehensive range of specialized pediatric services, ensuring that families in the region have access to cutting-edge medical care across a broad spectrum of healthcare needs.

BCHP maintains a strong partnership with Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, the magnificent children’s hospital that is part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), enhancing pediatric healthcare services in New York and Connecticut.  Through this collaboration, BCHP leverages WMCHealth’s extensive regional healthcare network.  BCHP has many longstanding collaborations with many healthcare facilities throughout the region, all designed to deliver a seamless continuum of care for children and families.

The relationship between BCHP and WMCHealth emphasizes integrated care, allowing pediatric patients to benefit from the resources, expertise, and cutting-edge treatments available at both institutions. Together, they support a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, coordinating across various specialties to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in convenient locations across the region. BCHP’s affiliation with Boston Children’s Hospital further augments this collaboration, bringing in world-renowned expertise and research capabilities, ultimately elevating the standard of pediatric care for families throughout New York and Connecticut.

In 2020, Brenda and John Fareri pledged to contribute $1 million to the Westchester Medical Center Foundation to endow the Michael H. Gewitz, MD Chief of Pediatric Cardiology position at WMCHealth’s Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gewitz is one of the most distinguished names in the pediatric cardiology field. The Michael H. Gewitz, MD, Chief of Pediatric Cardiology Endowment will support this position in the future and ensure that BCHP and Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital remain leaders in healthcare in our region and on the national agenda in training, recruiting and retaining the best and the brightest.  

The Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at BCHP will also receive appointments as Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and at New York Medical College, our affiliated medical school.   

Education and Qualifications
  • Education: MD or equivalent, with board certification in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Academic Appointment: Associate Professor level or above
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in pediatric cardiology with a proven record of clinical, educational, and leadership excellence. Prior experience in a leadership or chief role preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in building and leading diverse, multidisciplinary teams. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Research and Academic Track Record: Established record of scholarly work and contributions to the field of pediatric cardiology.
  • Commitment to Diversity: Ability to promote a culture of inclusivity and respect for diversity among faculty, staff, and patients.
Compensation

Compensation arrangements are competitive and will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and achievements, and responsibilities of this position. The estimated good faith range is $450,000 - $550,000.
